I am going on the European Dreams tour at the beginning of Sept. This is my first time going to Europe and I am really excited.

Q-I am not sure whether to take cash or travellers cheques. I have heard that alot of places in Europe no longer accept travelers cheques. I know when you charge something on your credit card you are paying for 3%conversion fee. Is there a fee to cash travelers cheques as well?

Q - I am staying in Rome an extra day, any suggestions on what to do, where to go that the tour does not cover?

Any comments would be appreciated Smiler

Forget travellers cheques unless you plan on using them solely to pay for optionals. You will be wasting precious time finding places to cash them. You can't use them in any store. Take some cash with you before you leave and then use an ATM whenever you need cash. Keep in mind your daily and weekly withdrawal limits and check with your bank as to each withdrawal fee. Take two credit cards with you and if possible, two debit cards with two different banks.

Does your tour include a visit to the inside of the Coliseum? I was in Rome last March and booked my own tour of Ancient Rome independently. The Metro is also very easy to use and get around in Rome.

Thank you, Jeannie. Another question, Is tennis shoes to caual to wear around Europe? I heard not many people wear tennis shoes but I want to be comfortable if I am doing alot of walking.

If this is your first trip to Europe, then the European Dream is excellent since it includes the Big 3 (Rome, Paris, London) plus Venice (wow), Lake Maggiore and Lucerne. We did the tour last May (it was our second trip to Europe) and it was well worth it. It is great that you will have an extra day in Rome since two days are not enough to experience the essence of the Eternal City.

We used cash and credit card during our trip.
Credit card purchases were charged based on the Euro exchange rate at the day of the purchase.
