So, I got the dreaded call today from my travel agent. My trip is cancelled and I am super sad. I dont know what I will do now as I have 2 jobs and getting the new time off to accomodate the new tour dates (they are offering a 15 day tour instead) is not really an option. I might take my $ and rebook at another time. I shed a tear or two as I have planned this trip for 3 years and now this. Oh well.

FrownerThat's a real shame Rhonalalas. I can imagine how disappointed you are. Hopefully whatever you replace it with will be bigger and better and you will look back and think it happened for the best. Smiler In the meantime, you have every right to have a good cry and a big grumble!

Is there nowhere else you could choose to go on those dates e.g. somewhere else in Europe? I'm sure there will be another trip you might like to do e.g. perhaps just one country in depth? I think this year has been the worst as far as cancellations - it is to be hoped that the problems which have caused them are rectified sooner rather than later or there will be more disappointments.

A dream is just a dream. A goal is a dream with a plan and a deadline.

That is truly horrible - I would be shedding a few tears myself. Look at other tour groups and see what they offer that would fit in as well as looking at the alternative Trafalgar tours. Don't give up. I sometimes think that Trafalgar forgets that not all it's cutomers are retired or part of the landed gentry and can not therefor change plans at a moments notice. Good luck.

Hi Rhonalalas,

You have every right to shedd a tear. Hope you can find an alternative tour. It is such a let down to plan a trip then not be able to go. Never seen so many cancelled trips since I have been on the BB.Good Luck

Cheers Denise

Being retired doesn't mean you don't have commitments that are not always easy to work around.

I'm so sorry your trip was cancelled. Have a look at other tours that fit your time off work and see if you can find something as an alternate. I think I'd rather do a different trip instead of putting off travelling for another year. Check out the cost saver tours as well. On our trip (July 6-20) the cost saver group was joined with the first class group since it was basically the same tour. There were only 12 in the cost saver tour and rather than cancel, they joined us. They stayed at different hotels and had to pay extra for some of the things that were included in the first class tour. There must be an answer for you out there somewhere. It would be too disappointing to go nowhere!

I agree with Canadian Mum. Look around for another alternative and I,m sure you will find somwthing. SmilerI remember how disappointed we were when our Ireland-tour was canceled. We looked around and found a even better tour, with Travalger, that we enjoy so much.We were glad for all our friends on the board for all their encouragement and written help. That is very disappointing but remember that Trafalgar isn't the only tour company out there. Since they cancelled, you have the option of taking a different tour with them or getting your money back. If you can't change your vacation dates and they cannot accomodate you, check other companies. I'm sure there is something else for you out there so don't give up hope!

The same thing happened to me twice this year with Trafalgar. I could not change my vacation day because of work, so I booked trip with another tour company. It was the best trip I've ever taken....Don't cancel altogether. I'm sure you can find something you will like...good luck

How absolutely soul destroying Frowner to plan a trip for such a long time and then have it taken away is terrible Mad

I would be ropable (sp)! Eeker Mad

Don't give up, you deserve your trip, you've worked long and hard for it, Why don't you sit down with your TA and dicuss alternatives? As others have said, there are other Travel companies out there and you may find something that is even more suitable than the TT you had planned. Don't let this setback beat you! Smilerand best of luck with whatever you decide! Smiler

P>S Was your TT a GD?

Cheers

The same thing happened to me on a tour I planned to Ireland with a different tour company, but I was able to find another for the same time period. So don't give up a vacation this year, see what else fits your schedule. You have waited to long not to go anywhere. Roll Eyes

Thanks all for the support and replies. I called my TA today to cancel. I have to now sit down again and look at different companies that offer a similar tour. I am still upset but slowly, slowly feeling better. After I hung up the phone with my TA I felt very upset. Even shopping didn't make me feel better. Oh well, better luck next time-I hope.
