Dragons & Dimpz, is this the topic you talked about?
Big Grin
I think this time we are far more advanced. TT has a number of these cruise in the books, a lot more info, some people have been on them with other companies, there are a few genuine passengers booked for 2006 or contemplating it quite seriously and what's more, Missie is investigating the possibility to make the Rhine/Danube cruise the TTBB event of the year 2007. So this time we are not talking a fantasy, but a real TT.

Hi australena

If we are to seriously look at a River Cruise for the next BB tour we have to some how sort out the single suppliment cost for our single travellers.

How are we able to post to a closed topic Confused

I don't know, I just clicked on reply and replied. Some other old topics were revived, I noticed. But I think it was only those from pre-website change, not the new ones.
Good point about single sup’s and cabin mate matching.
On ocean cruises the cruise company fills the cabins by opening them to mutually unknown shipmates and discounts the fares. You book not knowing in advance whom you get, only that it is going to be a person of the same gender. They will book the cabins in full, bums on seats etc. This used to apply to those 4 and 6 berth cabins of old, now they do it for 4 berth, some 2berth too.
I went on two Pacific cruises in the 70s like that, knowing I will have 3 other cabin mates but not where from. In both cases the match worked out very well and we all had a ball. Of course, youth had something to do with the enthusiasm of rooming with 3 previously unknown people. Such room mate matching was also available for ski holidays. Once I booked a week in Thredbo and got 2 roomies from Qld and 1 from Broken Hill! And we all matched very well.

I think australena is very clever to be able to 'open' a closed topic. I just hope we are all not in too much trouble when John finds out. Wink Eeker

I agree that the single supp. would be a problem if we decide on a river cruise for our TTBB tour.
