As most of you know, Tragalgar's parent company recently purchased Uniworld, a river tour operator in Europe.

At the end of this week, we will be on river tour from Amsterdam to Vienna, but on Vxxxxx. It is a tour similiar to Uniworld's European Serenade.

Hopefully, I can take a photo or two of some of the Uniworld (Trafalgar) river boats and post them, etc.

Cat's ~ I have just looked at the Uniworld web-site & some of their cruises look good. However it looks as though only those from the U.S. & Canada can order brochures. Frowner

Have a great trip Cats.

Seventeen days until we leave for Trafalgar/Uniworld's "Grand France".

We did the Russian cruise with Uniworld, there is a trip report on the BB somewhere and some photographs.

When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable.

Missie,

While he's at it, might as well post daily tour tale so he won't have to do it when they get back. Big Grin Big Grin

We have returned from the river cruise in Europe.

How was it? It was really quite nice crusing on the Rhine, Moselle, Mainz and Danube rivers.

I was able to photograph only one Uniworld (Trafalgar) tour ship in Amsterdam, plus about 700 photos.

Hi Cat and welcome home, I would love to hear more about your cruise and see some photo's. Wink

How did it compare to Coach travel?

Missie...

"How does a river cruise in Europe compare to Coach travel?"

No bags out at 6:00, as you have one cabin for the entire cruise.

All meals are usually included!

You usually dock close to a river town every day.

You see everything along the river as you travel slowly, including castles and old small towns, etc.

Photos are very easy to take as the ship sails along at a slower pace!

There is usually entertainment and other things going on in the typical forward observation area of the ship.

On the tour we were on, we passed thru 80 locks (80 locks!) from Amsterdam to Vienna on the Rhine, Moselle, Mainz and Danube rivers.

It is worth going on a nice relaxing river cruise on these rivers in Europe.

Cat ~ Sounds devine, I'm sold. Wink

I remember doing a cruise to Alaska straight after a coach tour around the Rockies, so I do understand what you mean by no bags out at 6am.

I think the perfect tour would be coach for 10 days then River Cruise for 7 days.

Glad you had such a great time. Wink

Hi everyone,
sorry to butt in but the River Cruise sounds absolutely wonderful.
I think this would make a perfect BB tour, doesn't it?
I think I could even talk my husband into taking this one...

Making every second count.

Missie Combination coach tour and cruise. They cram so much into the coach tour you are so glad to get on to the cruise portion. As Cats said, relaxing. We did coach tour/cruise in China last month and we found we were exhausted by the end of the coach tour and enjoyed the slower action of the cruise. It was a fascinating trip and we had less pollution than there is now for the Olympics in Beijing. Mind you it had rained for 5 days straight before we arrived in Beijing. I guess we were just lucky.
