Caitie;
I remember all the interesting discussions that took place prior to that trip.
I know the English Chris didn't go, but did the other Chris go?
Also, wasn't there a Russian couple- I think his name was Yuri. I haven't seen him on the board for a long time.
Take care;
Jo

Hi, Jo. We had about twenty passengers to begin with and then the war intervened and cut that number by about half because people were worried about the reception they would get from the French, who disagreed with our government`s position. They need not have worried. They treated us like royalty.
The Chrises did not go. Yuri and his wife were there and he took some beautiful photographs of every dish served. Valencia was there, too - remember her?

Caitie,
I bet the BB member tour of France was fantastic! Is there a tour tale floating about in the archives, I shall check.

I mentioned in another thread that an European River cruise would be a wonderful tour for members of the BB. If Trafalgar would give us some hefty discounts, we might just be able to fill a boat...

Making every second count.

Bob ~ I thought the United Nations facilitated cooperation and mediation, not bickering.

I feel that people who post here do so for the benefit of all travellers. I believe bickering is an unfair comment. Smiler

Like I care.

I've given up, a long time ago, giving any credence to what you consider fair or or proper; only you would not see my comment as "tongue in cheek." "There are none so blind as those that will not see."

Most people need food and water to survive, you need argument and and discord. So sad!

I'm sure you are right when you suggest that most post for the benefit of others. However, unfortunately there are those that are so narcissistic.

Ummm! For one who takes issue with "bickering, that's exactly what your post was. Don't do as I do........."If you think the UN is all about cooperation, you need to take off your rose colored glasses."

Warwick Castle has fallen from favour lately, for several reasons, Firstly, many of the tours that stayed locally (Coventry, Stratford & Kenilworth for instance) now don't, that is they call at Stratford en route from York to London, therefore, there simply isn't time.

Secondly, WC started to "shortchange" our clients, i.e. we would book at a weekend for, say 4.00pm, only to find on our arrival, that not only could we not approach the gate to drop off due to parked vehicles, but find that the castle would close at 4.30pm due to an evening "event".
We would only discover this after we had walked our clients some distance to the gate, causing great inconvenience to all.

I agree - it IS well worth a visit, but most TD's do not consider the hassle worthwhile - and who can blame them!! Mad

Birdman,

That is so unfortunate, hopefully, the competing interests can reconcile their differences.

I certainly can empathize with the Tds point of view; the last thing they need is another "headache."

Regards,

Bob

P.S.

I must confess to some confusion with your comment, "Secondly, WC started to "shortchange" our clients." I didn't understand how "toilets" were part of the problem.

That is really a shame! My Britain and Ireland tour in 2003 included a night in Coventry and we had an optional tour to WC which was one of the highlights of our tour.
