Does anyone know what/if immunizations are required when travelling to Egypt?

They definitely are for Australians. Try doing a search on the net, we have a Tourist information site - Smart Travellor, Canada may have a similar site.

For our trip to Egypt last year we had Hep A and Typhoid and a Tetanus booster. These were recommended by our Doctor.

Hi danielwilkinson,
We were told by our doc to have Hep A&B and typhoid. We also updated by way of a single shot, polio, tetnus, whooping cough(they come together single injection). He checked it out for us.

There is a canadian goverment site I use:

http://www.voyage.gc.ca/dest/ctry/reportpage-en.asp

It not only has travel vaccination info but country reports and other general travel information.

My wife and I didn't feel it necessary to have the injections. We considered that being on the ship for twelve days, and only going to temple sites when on shore, wasn't much of a risk.
That was just our decision.

Don't leave town , till you've seen the country.

I would strongly recommend that people at least make sure their tetanus injections are uptodate.

When my wife suffered a head injury at the Cairo Museum we were asked repeatedly by medical attendants, ambulance officers and hospital doctors "Has you wife had tetanus injections?". All were visibly relieved when the answer was yes and told us that it was very important that she had had them.

I am planning to book end of Mar or first of April. Had not thought about shots as I have never done any vaccinations on my travels abroad. Will have to check into this. Thanks for the info.

Thinking about this tour for end of April, beginning of May.

Flying Kiwi - I am also looking at the same time frame or maybe a little earlier before it gets too hot.

Is May still comfortable weather-wise? I've read on another site how so many people get sick by the water. Even the bottled water contains high levels of potassium which makes people sick. One guy said that 'people were dropping like flies' due to stomach ills. I don't want to overreact, but...
