Kitchen Wench,
You are in for a treat! Just a couple of important things (IMO) On the cruise, the outlet over the dressing table/desk is OK for 110 voltage. A travelmate was able to plug in her electric curlers without any problems. You can also plug in your phone charger, or computer. I wouldn't suggest trying a hairdryer, however. If you get Roberto as a steward, he makes towel animals! It was so much fun to come back on board at lunch and see what was waiting on the bed. (dog, bunny, and peacock) |

Mrs Toad,
I was wondering why you hadn't posted any more tale. Glad the phone line is fixed and you can get to work. I always do a word document first and then paste it to the BB. It's a lot easier that way (and besides you can use spell check). I think I heard the storm has been down graded, that's a relief. Does anyone know how Mrs Toad and Toad Hall got on in the hurricane? It'd be great to hear that all is OK with them.
Tootsiebelle - You posted yesterday, so I assume that you're OK. Is that right? It's hard to imagine being caught in the big winds. |

I do worry when things go quiet. Maybe some of our friends from over the pond can fill us in on how bad or not the hurricane was?

Dimpz: The hurricane not only hit Florida but veered over to Texas I believe, as usual for this time of year they're watching another system build. However, it's possibly because many of our Yankee friends are involved with watching the Democratic convention in Denver unfold this week, and the Republican convention in St Paul, Minnesota next week that accounts for the quietness. It's hard for anyone to leave CNN these days

Hi, Mallee-
Thanks, everyone, for thinking of us. I'm not sure where Mrs. T lives but heavy flooding is all over the place because the storm stalled when it got to us. Places on the coast, just 30 miles east of us, had 25 to 30 inches of rain, and similar amounts were across north Florida. We're fine here in Orlando, for the most part, as the whole thing sort of went around us! You can bet everyone is watching "Gustav" out in the Gulf but for right now it looks as though it will miss Florida. I think Minnesota or Montana looks pretty good right now! Oh of course, thanks Brenda, I had not even given that a thought. Politically, at least in my state, we are having our own problems at the moment. Live each day....instead of counting the years. |

Thanks, Tootsiebelle, for your reply. 30 ins rain - twice the annual average of our farm! - all at once. It's like snowstorms; impossible to comprehend. There seem to be a lot of dangerous places in the USA! |

Mallee, you're welcome.
Not only are we having floods, we have more storms popping up in the Atlantic, and another is aimed at our east coast, so keep your fingers crossed for all the Florida/US east coast BB people. In the flood areas they are warning of snakes, alligators and assorted critters, as if the water isn't enough. People are told to call authorities if they find an alligator more than four feet long. Are they kidding? Someone is actually going out and measure one before they one 1) scream 2) run 3) call????? It really is serious, and Gustav may hit Louisiana, almost on the three-year anniversary of Katrina. Well, it IS hurricane season but we can always hope they go out to sea! I'm thinking a trip to London would be even better than the far north. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Tootsiebelle, "Laughter is the music your heart can dance to. . ." |
