Jewel ~ I received this today from Trafalgar so I presume they saw your thread and promptly started advertising. Big Grin

no where to go in trying to sell another tour for a different date,
Sorry Missie but I am confused about why you say this. Of course Trafalgar can sell another tour on a different date, after all that's what is happening now isn't it? Confused

Jewel ~ what I am trying to say here is that (we shall use Sold Out as an example) if Trafalgar publically say a tour is sold out then the prospective customer is going to start to look elsewhere for a similar tour, whereas if Trafalgar still gets the phone call it at least give them the opportunity to sell that person a similar tour on the same date or the same tour a few days later.

As far as using different terminology is concerned this would really only be applied to the website and it has been proven in the past that only a very small majority of people use this website. For Trafalgar to instigate the selling fast" or “Hot Tour" or maybe even "hurry, seats limited" or (Brainwave Big Grin) "new seats released" Wink instils a sense of urgency for potential passengers. Smiler This would require an expensive advertising campaign which I doubt they would do.

Missie~ I think we are saying the same thing except in two different ways!! Wink

Cheers

Jeannie ~ This is exactly the scenario we faced with our upcoming U.S. tour. I found it discomforting & had my TA phone TT.

Wouldn't it save a lot of phone calls if the wording was clearer or at least the GD did not disappear? Confused

Quite right. Just leave the "GD" there so that people are who ALREADY booked don't panic when they see it disappear.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

WHEN WE BOOKED OUT TT TO EUROPE IT WAS STATED LAST SEATS AVAIL NOW. OUR TA SAID THERE WAS ONLY 3 PLACES LEFT ON THE TOUR. ON ARRIVAL WE FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE 147 PASSENGERS ON THIS TOUR! TT HAD 3 COACHES DOING THE SAME TOUR- IMAGINE HOW BUSY SOME PLACES GOT! MOTELS WERE CHANGED TO ACCOMMODATE ALL COACHES. WE OFTEN STAYED IN SAME MOTEL AS ONE OTHER COACH.

The Grand European is obviously a very popular tour for Trafalgar, what was the mix of people on your tour and did you come across the other two coaches.

Missie the Grand European was in the Sunday paper approx. in March. It was an excellent deal - possibly about A$1000 off the tour. Someone might have seen it and be able to give us the exact amount it was advertised for. Know several people that have done this tour and though a busy one they loved it. Smiler

Hi Jenno~ The Grand European was indeed advertised at $1000 off the normal cost per person, this was one of the problems that I encountered back on October when all of the 2009 tours were released. The TA That I originally booked with (yes, that one! Smiler)didn't want to give me the "new price" as I had already booked at 08 prices. Big Grin

It is a tiring day packing isn't but I had clothes laid out on our spare bed, and had bought a few new clothes to take. This is a great time of the year to go to Europe and I hope that you will get the good weather we got.

We actually thought Italy was a bit warm for us. Funny to say that because it has been 12 deg. here in Adelaide today. We had a late night last night (morning) and I think we felt it today. Frowner Frowner

Jewel ~ All that matters now is that you have a great tour to look forward too, 7 days and counting. Cool
