If you want to book your tours with a TA via the internet, pleasedo so only with a TA who has been recommended to you. I have already shared my experiences with doing this and so have one or two other BBer's. It is not worth the expense ($700.00 in my case)when things go off track!

I emailed TT here in NZ about a week ago as I wanted to know if we could book a tour of South America through the NZ TT, even though they do not offer South American tours. I noticed that Australia have these tours and thought it might be possible to book in NZ. They replied that it wasn't and that I would have to contact the Australian TT.

This does not sound right to me. I feel it is more likely that it was in the too hard to do basket. The G trips we booked through the US were only offered in NZ on the G NZ web site there was no other advertising anywhere and 2 x TA's had no idea about it. But one did check and yes we could purchase through a NZ agent if we wished.

But we saved $NZ3,000 by going through the US even with the extra $NZ900 we had to pay for changing our airfares.

Totally agree with this statement - and even then only if you are totally aware and accept all 'known' snags.

Exactly - and there is not much we can do about that. We noticed a huge jump in the NZ prices from 2006 to 2007.

by Tangata : My UK TA posts them to me. I am expecting the documents for our Grand France tour to arrive today or tomorrow, they were posted as a "small packet" on the 12th but I suspect they didn't get into the postal system until the 14th.

When we originally looked at booking the tours through G in the US they wanted $US65 Eeker to courier our docs to us. This was one of the reasons why we went elsewhere Wink

I am flying to England next August and will be based there for 2-3 months and want to do a tour of Europe from London. I have learned the difference between booking a Trafalgar tour in Australia as opposed to England is $800.
I am inclined to book from England and have been in touch with an agent via email.
As I intend to travel single supplement it would be worth my while to book from England.
I too would be interested in why the difference if rates.
Margaret.

I don't think its anything more than TT estimating at the time of print the exchange rate.

Well I hope thats all there is to it Wink otherwise it would be that they are 'loading' the southern hemisphere prices for ? reason.

The difference in price is huge though- especially if you times it by 2 for a couple. I would love to know why. After all we all leave from the same place and finish at the same place. It is not as if it includes airfares.

It was Trafalgar who gave me this answer. I may well be able to get my Travel Agent to arrange it from here - I haven't asked her. I will check when we decide to do that trip though.
