If you are buying alcohol o'seas to bring back to Australia make sure you pack it into your checked luggage for the journey back to Australia.
Two sets of relatives recently returning from both Europe and New Zealand have recently had the alcohol they purchased taken from them as it was in their carry on luggage. If you don't want to put it in your checked luggage then buy it here in Australia in the Duty Free shop before you clear customs as you arrive back in Australia. Life is better on a bike. The phrase slayer. |

Only came to know in the last few years that there was Blue, Gold and Green labels for JW.
Get whatever at the Duty Free shop on the way home...why subject it to confiscation or breakage. |

Jackman was given a bottle of JW Blue recently. It's only been opened once (to my knowledge). Must admit it's a bit of temptation whenever I open the cupboard
Saki - following our move here, we (and our family) have been transporting our wine from NZ to Australia whenever one of us travels between the two (we're only allowed 2250ml per time). We wrap it in bubble wrap and place in the middle of the suitcase. Touch wood, we haven't had a breakage yet. Having said that, we're not prepared to risk the Grange so it's staying put We also brought back a bottle of whisky from Ireland a few months ago (and a few miniatures). It survived the journey around the world. HT2 is correct - Heathrow has a good range and Jackman spotted the JW green too |

I remember many years ago when Mr FTET and I were on one of our trips back to Aussie to see relations in Perth .Our children were only babies then and trying to manage the two children and luggage was a hard enough let alone a bag of duty free alcohol.
Well Mr FTET insisted we get two large bottles of Johnny Walker Black label and one Baccardi Rum at the duty free in NZ before we left ,one for himself and one for his father who loved Johnny walker too. I also had purchased for my self a nice bottle of perfume so we had a large bag to carry onto the plane. We carried the two bottles of Johnny Walker and Bacardi plus the perfume all the way with two kids, and suitcases till we got to our destination and went through customs and out to the exit of the airport and Mr FTET dropped the bag and crash a bottle of Johnny Walker plus the Bacardi broke on the airport conctrete out side. Mr FTET was not a happy chappy, as their was glass and alchol everywhere, and he had lost his beloved Johnny Walker. Luckily there was one bottle of Johnny Walker left so it was consumed by both he and his Dad which they enjoyed very much. By the way my perfume was still in one piece after the drama we when through. Now Mr FTET does not purchase anything breakable duty free untill we are back in NZ customs now as he remembers that it does not pay to carry to much duty free when you have to travel a long way . Always thought it strange that Johnnie Walker Blue is the highest grade and it is three times more expensive than their Gold label

Perhaps they consider "Blue" equivalent to a blue blood and more precious than gold!
