Augusta: When I remarked earlier that I had married an Afrikaner, Rex replied: "Caitie jou stoute kabouter. Jy het ook die lekker vleis gekies, which, loosely translated means "Caitie you naughty elf. You also chose the (tasty chunk of) meat."

Do most people come back a little heavier or do most people lose a little bit of weight? Just curious.
By the way I only have three more sleeps.
Soooooooooooo. excited.

Sadly I came back heavier! Frowner I was so cross with myself. Trouble is I cannot ignore temptation and I ate a lot more than I normally do. Curse those big breakfasts. I also found that the tours were not as physically active as the time I spent doing independent travel. Next time I am determined to not eat so much- says she with fingers crossed.

Rex: My man is nie fris en stoere boere nie. Hy is baie aktief en soos Lance Armstrong gebou, lank en rietskraal met sterk seeninge. Translation: My husband isn't a big strong farmer type. He is very active (cycling) and built like Lance Armstrong - tall and lanky and sinewy. Smiler
He is perpetual motion. Don't know how to say that in Afrikaans. Smiler

Thanks for the translations, ladies! Big Grin I'd guessed that the above meant "My man isn't cold or dead. He is an active kisser, and was born Lance Armstrong. He likes going on caravan journeys." Red Face

Now, how on earth am I going to remember all these words? I'm trying to, and learn a few basic phrases in Malay. (Yes Sabah, here I come in 2009!!!) I did try once to learn a few basic phrases in Dutch, but found that I was too old to learn how to pronounce them. (Cough, choke, splutter. Confused) Please, will you continue to translate?
