Hi everyone,I have read the suitcase measurements for Tours .Our bags are light sortof large backpack style bags which can be wheeled. They only weigh 4 kgs without any thing in them. They almost meet required measurements, and are not big.Is it absolutely necessary that bags are of exact measurements or less?would love your feedback. Thanks again Janine

Hi Janine, I'm sure they'll be fine as long as they aren't massively bigger than the requirements! I didn't see our driver with a tape measure out Smiler

On the last day of our trip I helped the driver unload the cases as we wanted ours as soon as possible. Well there was one of these bags there and I swear it must have been full of house bricks, how the driver lifted that every day was beyond me.
Weight is the main thing to remember size doesn't really matter.

Janine ~ As augusta says, as long as they as not massively oversize you will be just fine. Cool

You will see a variety of suitcase size when you go on your trip, you will wonder why you worried!!

I have seen some very large bags and some very small bags. So long as you don't have an overly heavy bag you will not recieve any complaints.

From experience, the tour director and driver don't usually say anything to anyone about the size of their bags, but will often make light of the increasing weight of bags during talk time on the coach. If your bag is over weight, the problem comes at the airport when you check in your luggage to go home!!

We should all feel good about the size of bags allowed. I was at the Podiatrist yesterday and she and her husband are going on a Rick Steeves (Hope TT doesn't mind me saying that) tour of Italy and they are only allowed a carry-on size bag plus a smaller "day bag" AND they have to transport them to and from hotels, etc. themselves.

Holy cow, that sounds brutal, LTT. Not sure I could do that except if it were a verrry short tour, and I tend to pack lightly. Smiler Maybe his tours get a younger crowd?

I think they do cater to younger and perhaps more adventurous crowd. I'm not a good judge of age, but I would guess that my Podiatrist in only in her 20's.

After she told me that, I looked up his tours to make sure she was correct. Found something interesting. There is a sidebar explaining terms for the walking, "easy" is 2-4 miles on level ground, etc. Then under each day of the tour it ends with "Walking level: moderate (or whatever)". Wouldn't that be nice?
