We are looking at going on a trip in July and our TA says there is a deal with British Airways we could take out of Calgary that has the second person only paying the taxes - sort of buy one get one free. I was wondering if anyone has taken this offer and if you were happy with the service received on that airline. We've flown Air Canada before and would have to add on the extra time and cost of flying to Calgary for this flight. Still, since the cost of the flight is more than the cost of the tour, any $$ saved are helpful. If you've flown both BA and AC and can offer a comparison that would be great!

Hi Canadian Mom: we just got back from our first tour and we had the B/A offer of buy one get one free. It was a great savings. The only thing is the connection time at Heathrow. If you are going through that airport make sure you have as much time as you can arrange. B/A have pretty good service with complimentary drinks and headsets. The food wasn't too bad either.

Is 2 hours enough to go from T1 to T3?

I have gone on BA a few times. I found in the past, last time I used BA was 2 years ago, the leg room was less plus the seats seem to recline more which can be annoying if the person insists on reclining all the way into your lap (nearly) Mad Wink Otherwise BA is fine.

AMA (Alberta Motor Assoc.) has a special right now if you are members, I think it was 10% off on trips longer than 10 days.

Chech, I am sure 2 hours is enough. Two years ago I travelled with BA into T4 I think it was and had to change to another terminal for Istanbul. This was before T5 opened. I had to take a bus to transfer to the other terminal, the recommended time was 45 min but I did it in half. This was in Oct so it was less crowded. Check on the Heathrow airport site, the have suggested times for connecting between terminals.

Thanks. It seems everyone agrees two hours is more than enough. This will be my first flight on a British airline - BMI. Six hours from Amman to London...and the aircraft doesn't have inseat entertainment!! I hope the A321 doesn't have the same problem with the seats...that would make it a really long flight!

BA is one airline I won't be travelling with again. In May I had flights from Munich to London to Bangkok to Sydney - the inflight entertainment was good and there was plenty of room (because the plane was about half empty), but the service and the food were really terrible. The food was so bad I couldn't eat it and the staff just turned off the lights for most of the long flight.

I've recently booked another trip and told my TA not to book BA for me - she said had travelled with BA about the same time as me and her whole family got food poisoning!

JenD ~ We had a similar experience to yours with BA several years ago & we certainly would never travel with them again if it was avoidable. Frowner

I have read many posts from people who really like BA, I did not have a good experience & so I won't be giving them the opportunity to perhaps change my thinking.

My wife and I have flown BA several times from LAX to Heathrow, but have never flown in Coach, only First or Business Class. So our experience with BA has been top notch regarding food, service and schedules.

We also fly AA and UAL on this same route and have never had any problems.

Places Trafalgar have taken us: England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary.

I have to agree with HT2. In business or first BA are very good, though certainly not the best.

However I have travelled with them in Economy and would not repeat the experience!

When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable.

Ah, well...to each his own. BA is not my favorite airline. Those Club World seats (is that what they're called?) are really horrible. There's no space for anything and you feel trapped in the window (inner) seat.

Although I haven't flown in Economy but rather Economy Plus I would fly with BA again any time.

The service was excellent, the food lovely and hot and plenty of it, the inservice entertainment satisfactory (if you like movies which I don't) and the plane clean with plenty of room.

I could name about 10 airlines I have used that were so bad I refuse to ever use them again with Qantas top of the list.

Travel is but a memory for the future but what memories I have of those wonderful tours.

I have flown on three different airlines, including Qantas and not including BA. I have been happy with all airlines and in Economy there is not much separating any of them. Food served on all is great but I love the hot chocolate served on Qantas the most Smiler

There is not much room in economy in most airlines. Cathay have more room in the newer planes but the seat "slides" forward and does not recline. While it is good not to get the seat in front of you in your face it is very uncomfortable for people like me who struggle to sleep on a plane.

I dream of flying business class, but unfortunately that is just a dream Cool

You can have a bad experience on any airline. Our worst flight ever was Paris to Singapore - on everyone's favourite airline 'Singapore airlines'. Staff were tired and therefore rude, entertainment systems were not working for many people. Cutlery and plates were dirty and the airconditioner was not working so we were over heated the entire trip- which would also have made the poor staff grumpy! It did not put us off flying with them again though. All other flights with them have been fine. We will fly with any major airline who offers us the right price. Cool

Cheers
Gerry

Too many trips and not enough time.

I flew BA last year and found it very nice. I did go premium economy, so there was increase leg room. I would recommend the airline.
