Hi People,

Having been looking for either of 2 brands of travel wash concentrated gel to handwash clothes on tour, I have been quite disappointed to find neither of them. The ones I've been looking for are "Wash well" (I think that's what it was called - in a longish tube) and Dylon travelwash (it was in a yellow coloured shorter tube from memory).

I've looked at the travelwash liquid that Korjo & Go have available (blue & quite liquid - as opposed to concentrated gel), but I'm wondering if they may leak.

What do other people use to handwash their clothes while on tour? (preferably aussies answering so I've got some hope of being able to get what you recommend. Any recs from OS, it may not be available in Australia).

I had a quick look at that micro-Omo today in the laundry aisle in the supermarket, but not sure... I haven't used it, so don't know how much you'd need in a handbasin.

anyone??
Smiler
cheers,
ClareS

ps. my BOS tour is still guaranteed & in fact, the tour docs are at my TAs, along with the tour docs for my replacement tour (Insight) that I'm doing instead of my cancelled TT tour. Only a couple more weeks till I fly out!

ClareS: I travel with little sachets of liquid Woolite. Each sachet contains just enough for a washbasin of laundry. They`re lightweight and easy to transport. You could probably buy them online if they`re not available at travel stores in Oz. http://shopping.yahoo.com/s:Laundry%20Supplies:4168-Brand=Woolite

I went to the Kathmandu store and got 2 little bottles of a very concentrated liquid laundry wash. It worked very well on the clothes and was very gentle on the skin too.

Clare, I'll gladly travel with you and do your laundry so you don't have to stress over it. The only condition is that you purchase the tickets! Sounds fair? Big Grin

PS - Where are we going?

We use the room's soaps/shampoo etc. Then hang over the shower rail - especially on 2 night stops - first thing we do when we hit the room. The big stuff (trousers/jeans) get a dry clean when we can. Many hotels have a laundry - many don't.

Funny story one time how I (accidentally) used the mouth wash to do my underpants. Smelt gr8 (peppemint ?) but never lived it down ... Cool

thanks Caitie, but I don't really have time to buy online and wait for delivery. I'd prefer something I can get locally.

Clare ~ I hate travelling with liquids - I buy a cake of Sards before each trip & discard whatever is left before we come home, while traveling it lives in one of those plastic soap containers. Works well, no mess, no spills. Smiler

Peppermint smelling underwear huh? interesting!! Big Grin Big Grin

does using the soap/shampoo in the room for laundry suck any of the colour out of your clothes? (or more to the point... your wife's clothes?).
I wouldn't want my black pants fading to an uneven grey over the course of the tour Eeker

so it doesn't suck the life/colour out of your clothes Dimpz?? (esp. dark clothes!)

Do you wash all your clothes with the Sards cake of soap or just the smaller stuff? (ie. do you get any pants/skirts done by the hotel or do you handwash them all?)

I do it all myself, for which my back suffers! Frowner

I try to only do big laundry in rooms that have baths. I have not had any problems at all with Sards taking the colour out of clothes, although I do vaguely remember someone saying that it was too harsh on their hands Roll Eyes Bending over the bath is too harsh on my back LOL Big Grin deal with it!

Clare ~ Try it before you leave home, as you know with any washing product it is a personal thing. Smiler

Thanks Dimpz. I might get some & give it a go.
I usually do my capri pants in the handbasin along with the rest of my clothes (though when I have the pants in the basin, it's the only item in the basin at the time Smiler). I make a bit of a watery mess over the surrounding area (& floor), but, hey.... Big Grin
