We have a JVC hard drive video camera and we are about to head over to Europe for 5 weeks. We were going to take our laptop to download our video's onto but after reading previous topics on taking laptops overseas I'm not sure if it's the best idea.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to store our videos? We will also have our digital camera photo's to store but could probably just buy more memory cards for this. |

Hi Avarona
We have a JVC Everio hard drive video camera and took it with us on a 3 week trip last year. We took, what seems now that I have been editing it, a lot of footage, about 1.5GB as video and probably more on the photo function and did not have a problem with memory space (it is 30GB). Being able to use the video for photos as well was great because it meant our normal camera and memory sticks didn't get too full. If you did want to store your video footage, you can buy portable hard drives (about the size of CD case) which you could possibly use at an internet cafe to download on to. It can take a while though. Sorry my knowledge is not great in this area so hopefully someone more tech savvy will offer some advice too. BTW I wouldn't personally take a laptop, more weight to carry, extra hassle at airports and it's easy to stay in contact by SMS. |

Hi:
I'm not familiar with that particular camera - some options other than a laptop would be the external hd or even a flash drive, but for that you would need a usb port. I have the same problem, but I'm going to bring my laptop with me. I've been on other websites reading posts/reviews and it seems to be pretty even for the pros and cons. Live, Laugh, Love. |
