Just heard on the radio. They are abolishing the departure tax ( NZ$25 Auckland), but adding NZ$13 dollars to the departure flight price, and NZ$13 to the arrival flight price.
No other details till tonight's news.

Much more sensible. Better to have it all included than queing up once more to get the departure tax paid.

We paid our departure tax when we paid for our tickets and then our TA clipped on the little $25.00 sticker to the back of the ticket. No queuing at Auckland when departing.

This new scheme comes into effect in July. The same as you, our agent always gets our departure tax for us.

If you all check my post on 27 Dec 2007, under the topic Departure tax, I told you all then that this was going to happen Big GrinBig Grin

In actual fact, most people leaving NZ from Auckland were not only paying the $25.00 Govt departure tax, but an extra $25.00 AIA tax as well, making a total of $50.00. The AIA tax was included in the fare and paid by the air lines.

If you can get your hands on an AIA 2006/7 annual report, you will see that.

As I said in that post, keep on using Auckland International Airport, and boost my annual divvie Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

Ahhh, that's what we did wrong - we always fly out of Christchurch.

I see it is down to $2.10 today. If you can suggest an incentive for us to fly out of Auckland instead of Christchurch, then we might boost your divvie!!

I sure did!!! Big Grin The Arabs had a better deal, & they got voted out also!!!

Never mind Kiwi, we have money in ChCh as well!! Big Grin The only thing is, at ChCh you will be paying $25.00 tax against AIA's $13.00 tax. The airport fees are still higher from ChCh than Auckland, you just dont get them itemised as such. Just think, we wont have to worry when we get the International Airport going here in IVC!!!!!!
