On our return from Europe we changed planes in Sydney for the last leg to Melbourne. This was also the last leg of flight QF2, the major Qantas' London to Melbourne run. This 747 must have been one of the original ones, because it had that well worn look and rattled unbelievably. I just wondered how it managed to make the trip from London. I asked one of the attendants as she sat in her seat near us on take off; she said the plane was actually "recently refurbished".... so they intended to run it to London quite a few times more..... Sounds fantastic, anything to avoid USA Customs in Hawaii is a good thing.

I think it would be nice just to not have to get up in the middle of the night.

Didnt they do a documentary on that one? I think John Travolta was helping with the organisation of it. Pretty amazing really - they had to look all over the world for bits and bobs to fit the plane. What a wonderful thing to lay claim to if it was that plane - I think it is THE last original and you go to travel on it! Big Grin

I could be wrong though - im not knowledgeable on planes and i only watched about 30 minutes of it Wink.

John Travolta happens to owns one. He had nothing to do with the restoration. Smiler
