I have done this and similar tours several times, but not as a paying passenger. I was the one behind the steering wheel
I am sure you will enjoy the tour and sights, be it summer or winter time. Everywhere is great, but there is nowhere as good as home..... New Zealand. |

Any tour or visit to New Zealand is a wonderful journey.
It is a spectacular country with warm, friendly people. They have "adventure" sewn up. Be brave and try everything. The North Island is completely different to the South Island. However every district has spectacular scenery and land formations. I try to claim a favourite area and then another scene pops up in my head to compete with the previous choice. If you have not been to NZ, go and be dazzled by its' beauty. You will not regret it. Life is better on a bike. |

PS Book an extra few days in Auckland at the end. The Maori show at the Auckland Museum is outstanding. I have seen these shows in many of the very touristy areas, such as Queenstown and Rotorua. They are good there, however the Auckland Museum display of Maori culture and the Maori concert is the best I have seen.

It's so funny how people never seem to be happy where they are. we've recently thought if we didn't have family ties to Nz we would be off to Aussie in a shot!

I think it is only a minority of people that are not happy in their own country + how lucky we are that is the case. It has been immigrants that have added so much to this country. Live each day....instead of counting the years. |

Hi, Travel Freak, my goodness I didn't want to give the impression that I am not happy where I am. Oh, I am happy here in beautiful rain sodden Queensland. As I mow the lawns that have grown almost by the metre from the inches and inches and inches of rain we have had, I look down at my feet and smile at the webs growing between my toes. I am happy here. If I wasn't happy then I would be off to New Zealand in a flash with all my worldly goods in tow. That's why I say "when I grow up". It is just my way of saying how much I love visiting New Zealand. I have seen a lot of the world and I have enjoyed everywhere I have been. Some places have taken the passage of time for me to remember them fondly. However, New Zealand is so close yet so different. It is so inexpensive to go there that we never consider a trip there as part of our overseas trips. In fact, I have been lobbying my partner, imploring really, to go there in April instead of a trip back to where we grew up. To no avail, I might add. PS We love it here and won't be going anywhere with our furniture. Life is better on a bike. |

I think it is not until you have experienced other countries that one truely appreciates what they have at home. I sure have. Being in some overcrowded, dusty European cities last summer made me think about the lovely big green expanses and fresh air we have here in New Zealand that I took for granted. This is not to say I did not enjoy our tour experience, I did alot, but it was nice to get home and enjoy what we have.

Until we travel, we have nothing to compare our homeland to.

Sorry, penny I didn't mean to imply that yu thought that either. Just, isn't it great how we can see the great things in other countries, more than in our own at times. I wouldn't come over to NZ until you don't need a job anyway. You guys have it much better economically. We would love to base ourselves there economically and also as an opportunity to more easily explore your wonderful country. we have done a lot of travelling in NZ tho. Sometime we thought it would be lovely to see it thru a visitors eyes, so if anyone needs some tour guides... |
