I only just found this topic. Like all here before me, I think of you and your family, Karalin and wish your daughter a speedy and complete recovery. UK has some of the best world's medical specialists, many of whom are giving their time to the bombings victims. I am sure your daughter is in the best of hands.

Re-insurance, please consider the following options: contacting an insurance ombudsman and very importantly contacting your state and federal members of parliament. Sometimes they can do wonders for their constituents, particularly in circumstances such as yours. If unhappy with the insurance, people could also contact the papers as one of the options, but I would try the MPs first.

My husband has Canon 10D, bought as a retirement present to himself in 2003 + Canon lenses. Had some problem with some of them. If you would like to talk to him about his experience with Canon, please email me and I will pass it onto him. (He read your answer here and says if he was starting from scratch now, his preference would be Nikon).

Karalin,

I second australenas good advice, explore all avenues before giving up on getting a refund on your trip. After all it was a very valid reason that caused you to cancel not a whim. For too long insurance companies have been able to do as they please.

More importantly I hope your daughter continues to improve & that things are looking brighter for her & your family.

Let us know how you go with the insurance problem.

Karalin, I remember hearing something about Qantas and British Airways being very considerate to the bombing victims and their families. If your flight was booked with Qantas, you might be able to get your airfares back. Just perservere, please, do not give up.

Actually I believe the Aust. Govt also has offered to reimburse expenses...but I dont feel we could ask them to do that for our holiday.. no the flights were with Air Canada and Trafalgar would not take any responsibility which is fair enough when you have to cancel only a couple of days before hand...I shall battle on with the insurance company for now....but the daughter is a lot better and has started counselling and is pleased to know that what she is feeling is okay to feel if you know what I mean

Hi Karalin,

Did you book your Airfares through Trafalgar or independently?

Karalin, if you paid for your trip with a credit card, you might have some recourse through your credit card company, also.

Smiler Trafalgar Tours Smiler

How about giving Karalin a helping hand with her cancelled trip, it wouldn't hurt the PR department to step in and investigate if there is anything that can be done to help her re-coup her money and the publicity certainly wouldn't hurt Trafalgar Smiler

What a good idea, Missie! I wouldn't know where in TT this should be best addressed to, PR as you suggest or other department of TT? Perhaps if the TT Web people could help and pass this case onto the right person / dept. in TT to look into?
